The Poetry That Led Babishai To The Queen of Buganda, Lady Sylvia Nagginda Luswata

In 2010, Beverley Nambozo Nsengiyunva awarded the second group of the Beverley Nambozo Poetry Award. The Chief guest was none other than the Nnabagereka Development Foundation, represented well by high officials.

In 2023, Beverley embarked on writing poetry that honoured iconic women, a project which later extended to include about 10 other poets, culminating into an anthology titled ‘Feeling: The Poetry Anthology eclebrating Iconic Ugandan Women. Amongst those women was The Nnabagereka of Buganda, Lady Sylvia Nagginda Luswata.

Beverley requested a visit to deliver the Queen’s personalised copy. The day finally arrived.  Not only did The Nnabegereka receive an autographed copy but a personal recitation of the poem as well. It was a delightful, celebratory and memorable occasion, delivering poetry to The Queen and it is the first of many dignified visits across the globe.
